Sea Turtle Protection Program Wins Award!

The BHI Conservancy’s Sea Turtle Protection Program has received an award from the International Sea Turtle Society for being exemplary in advancing the cause of sea turtle biology and conservation.  Dr. Ken Lohmann, President of the International Sea Turtle Society, selected the BHI Conservancy because it is a model program combining conservation, science, and education – and involving the entire community.

This award is a reflection of the dedication of our community and volunteers.  This program was started by volunteers and continues to be successful because of all of the volunteers who help us throughout the summer.  We couldn’t do the necessary protection and research without the support of this community so we thank you all!

The award was presented Friday, February 8, 2019 at the International Sea Turtle Symposium in Charleston, SC where our two staff members, Emily Goetz and Dr. Beth Darrow, accepted it on behalf of the Conservancy and our BHI community.
