Coyotes on Bald Head Island

Visit our Facebook page to check out a phenomenal photograph by Doug Eberle! Doug was able to get a beautiful shot of the coyote (Canis latrans) that has been seen on Bald Head Island. This was taken in the marsh behind Lighthouse Landing. Coyotes are common to this area, but not often seen on BHI. They are about the size of a medium sized dog with adults ranging from about 4 feet in length and can average 20-45 pounds. Thank you so much to Doug and Wyndie for sharing this amazing photo!!

As with all wildlife on this island, please remember to always keep a safe distance and NEVER feed the animals.

Search "BHI Conservancy" on facebook for island wildlife updates.
