Environmental Education Programs
Looking for things to do on Bald Head Island? The BHI Conservancy uses its unique location to foster appreciation, deepen understanding and encourage stewardship of the environment through our many activities and programs. For over 30 years we have been inspiring and challenging people of all ages to be better stewards of our coastal environment, ensuring conservation for generations to come.
All of our programs support our mission of fostering community based barrier island conservation, education, and preservation.
Your family can enjoy a mixture of old time favorites - such as Birding BHI, Island Nature Tour, Kayaking the Creeks, and Ibis Sanctuary Tour - or discover some of our newer seasonal programs like Cosmos & Cocoa and Painting Bunting Tour.
Don't miss our NEW Low-Tide Kayaking and Nest Patrol Ride-Alongs. Additionally, our wildly popular Turtle Walks offer members a chance to see a nesting sea turtle.
Explore BHI with your kids and grandkids! Perfect for those staying on surrounding islands that want to discover Bald Head Island. We have an afternoon full of kid's activities waiting for you.
Come stay with us and learn about barrier islands, we have a dorm with a capacity for 30 people. The dorm is available for overnight trips from September through April while day trips are available year-round.
The Thad Wester Fishing School is one of our oldest programs and occurs every fall. It is an exclusive weekend program that always fills up quickly.
