Island Explorers Day Camp
(Ages 11-13)

Explore the many habitat of Bald Head Island, including the beach, salt marsh, and maritime forest. Hike, learn, and make new friends on the island.

Nocturnal Adventurers

Teen Marine Biologist Day Camp
(Ages 14-16)

Become a marine biologist for the day and experience how the BHIC protects sensitive coastal ecosystems. Learn about the conservation work being done on the island, including the research and protection efforts for endangered and threatened sea turtles.

Marsh Kid's Fishing


Kid's Marsh Crabbing and Fishing
(Ages 5-12)

Head to the creek and prepare to get your hands muddy catching fish and crabs. No fishing experience required.

Meet at Village Creek Access on Federal Road.

Equipment and bait are provided. Children 10 & under must be accompanied by an adult at no additional fee. Must sign up at least 1 hour before program start time.

Night Surf Fishing
(Ages 10-15)

Learn hands-on how to catch fish at night in the surf! Fishing experience strongly recommended.

Meet at Beach Access 2.

Sea Turtle Savvy


Sea Turtle Movie

Join us on the journey that is the life of a sea turtle. Follow a loggerhead sea turtle from birth on an adventure around the Atlantic Ocean. Experience the dangers a hatchling may face and how she overcomes all odds to lay a nest on the very beach she began her life. Popcorn will be provided!

Meet at the Barrier Island Study Center.

We all love our turtles here on Bald Head Island, but how much do we know about them? What do sea turtles eat? Where do they go after they hatch? What is their shell called? In this program you can learn more about our beloved sea turtles that are out in the ocean. Please note we are not a sea turtle rehabilitation center and we do not have live sea turtles in our collection.

Meet at the Bald Head Island Conservancy in the Barrier Island Study Center. Children 10 & under must be accompanied by an adult.

Reptile Round-Up

Meet and interact with some of the Conservancy’s ambassador animals, including turtles and snakes. Learn about our scaly friends and find out how the Conservancy is working to protect these important animals. All participants (children and adults) are required to register.
