Conservation Technician:

The Conservation Technician for the Bald Head Island Conservancy’s White-tailed Deer Management Project serves as a member of the BHIC Conservation & Education Team and is responsible for conducting the fieldwork needed to accomplish the island’s immunocontraception program for white-tailed deer.  It is expected that the Conservation Technician will also engage in other Conservancy activities including fundraising events, educational programming, and communications. Most fieldwork will be performed at night; weekend and work flexibility are required. Time off will generally coincide with weather that is inadequate for field operations. The BHIC Director of Conservation and Deer Team Lead, a graduate student from NCSU, will supervise this position. The position will last from late December 2017 through April 2018.

Deer Capture Intern:

The Deer Capture Intern for the Bald Head Island Conservancy’s White-tailed Deer Management Project serves as a member of the BHIC Conservation & Education Team and is responsible for assisting the BHIC staff with the fieldwork needed to accomplish the island’s immunocontraception program for white-tailed deer. General duties include: implementation of project protocol; assisting with deer capture, data collection, recording and quality control. The Deer Capture Intern is also expected to engage in all BHIC Conservation activities including fundraising events, educational programming, and communications. Most fieldwork will be performed at night; weekend and work flexibility are required. Time off will generally coincide with weather that is inadequate for field operations. The BHIC Director of Conservation and Deer Team Lead, a graduate student from NCSU, will supervise this position. This position will last from late December 2017 through April 2018.

Spring Coastal Non-Profit Environmental Internship (3 positions available):

The BHI Conservancy is seeking three recent graduates with environmental education and conservation fieldwork experience to join our team dedicated to conservation, education and preservation of barrier islands. These are 4-month positions starting in February 2018. While the majority of the spring will be spent assisting with educational programs and conservation monitoring fieldwork; this position will include other responsibilities of working at a non-profit organization.
